Liam Fairhurst lost his four-year battle against cancer on June 30, 2009 at his Soham home with his family at his bedside.
Liam, a pupil at Soham Village College, has been instrumental in raising more than £320,000 for the children's cancer charity CLIC Sargent.
Liam's Parents, Mark and Sarah have issued the following statement:
"Liam was a light that shone in our lives and stood as a beacon of hope, courage and inspiration to so many people. The legacy he leaves behind will far outweigh the grief and emptiness we feel at this time. We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the support they have shown our family over the last four years."

I live in Carson City Nevada, USA, though I lived near Ipswich when I was a child. I stumbled upon this website on accident when I was looking for Ely Nevada.I just wanted to say your son's obituary caught my eye and I felt so sad for your loss, and so encouraged that your young man was able to do so much before he passed. What a beautiful, beautiful boy. He touched me this far away. Will go now and call my son to tell him how much I love him. Take care with your grief.

Report this message By Emma Bruty on 3rd Jul 2009I'm in Australia and only just heard about you from Russell Brand's Twitter. I looked you up on the Internet, and learned what an inspirational and brave young man you have been. I am so sorry you have lost your battle, but you definitely fought the good fight - not just for yourself, but for so many others. I dearly hope you and your mate Jack are having an absolute ball right now. You deserve peace after devoting so much of your short life to your fight. RIP, Liam - you're an amazing and wonderful person. I send sympathy and my best wishes to your friends and family, also.
Emma.
