For Hank (by Ellie) I miss your jokes and Army tales, Your car park duties through snow and gales. I often sat with you in the carpark shed, “……….Is the Cock open yet” you often said. You always asked me if I was “alright”, I assisted you with getting the day right. You sang Elvis songs which made me giggle, You combed your hair, and had the wiggle. You cheered me up when I felt glum, With funny stories when you lived in Brum. “Oh, Ellie lend me fifty quid”, you’d say, “I need peanuts, scratchcards and IPA.” Sadly your condition was getting worse, I’d say “Hank” “Let me be your nurse!”. Happy times we had in The Cock and Plume, Sadly dementia took over far too soon. I loved you like my own grandad, With happy memories of times we had. You’re sadly missed and I often cry, I think I saw your star up in the sky. I was devastated when you went to heaven, But the bar should be open twenty four seven. I love you Hankyboy from your step-granddaughter, Ellie xxx
